Weber had gone three straight games without a touchdown pass and the Gophers scored just seven points total in two straight losses at Penn State and Ohio State. But with star receiver Eric Decker on the sidelines for the rest of the season, Weber threw for a career-high 416 yards and five touchdowns in a victory over Michigan State last weekend. Weber earned offensive player of the week honors in the Big Ten for his performance. The Gophers will need more of that this week when they host Illinois. The Illini racked up over 300 yards rushing in a win over Michigan last week. (Copyright 2009 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) |
