Sawyer County Investigation

Two separate fires have turned up two bodies this weekend in Wisconsin and authorities believe they may be connected in a homicide.

Crews were called around 7:30 Saturday night to County Highway F in Edgewater Township on the report of a structure fire. Responding units discovered the body of a 43-year-old male. Officials say evidence has led them to believe the man is the victim of a homicide. After further investigation, officers were able to develop a suspect.

Then around 10 p.m. Sunday morning, officers located a smoldering fire near an abandoned mobile home on Washburn County Highway A near Spooner. The Sawyer County Sheriff says a body of a deceased male was located in the ashes. The body was badly burned, however, authorities say evidence leads them to believe it is the body of the suspect in the alleged Edgewater homicide.

The name of the homicide victim is being withheld pending notification of relatives. The name of the deceased suspect is being withheld pending positive identification.
