"We take each deficiency seriously. We are working on training plans and policies, to make sure these things don't happen again," said Jeff Brown, VCC Administrator. The citations concerned things like undercooked and unpasteurized eggs, improper documentation for medications, improper documentation of reports of bruises on residents, and improper re-positioning of residents. Because of the citations, the VCC will pay a $5700 civil penalty. The center has also lost its ability to be a training center, for nursing assistants studying at the local college. Brown said he plans on applying for a waiver, to change that. The Minnesota Department of Health will do follow up visits at VCC, to make sure the proper changes are in place. |
