14-year-old Jake Billman has had a year young hunters dream of, and it's still early in the season. "About 6:21 in the evening I got a phone call, dad I shot a deer, shot a deer! it's a buck!," said Gregg Billman, Jake's dad.

Jake has been practicing with his bow and arrow for a few years now. After countless hours in the deer stand, he took down his first buck on Sunday."I didn't have a clear shot at the time and then it walked out in the opening that I had and I got a single lung shot," said Jake. "It's an area that we hunt, that I've been hunting since i was 12-years- old and so he finally got to reap the rewards of again, harvesting the animal," said Gregg.

For the Billman's, hunting is a family affair. A passion Jake's father Gregg loves to share with his children. "I've had jake in the woods since he could walk. It's been a huge experience as a father to bring my children up with hunting in the background. They enjoy it thouroughly," Gregg said.

But Jake's four point buck isn't his biggest prize this year. He also took a 460 pound black bear. "Absolutely enormous animal, it was a huge trophy for him," said Gregg. "I was really excited and I couldn't believe that I shot a bear," said Jake.

Jake will forever remember the past Labor Day in the Pequam area. He is getting a full body mount of his bear. "One of those once in a lifetimers and he's getting this once in a lifetimers at such a young age," said Gregg.
