Railroad Builder Hired

A Lakeville company has been hired to do the railroad work for the Essar Steel Minnesota project.

Eight miles of track need to be laid for the mining through steelmaking project.

Railworks Track Systems submitted the low bid for the project, at $8.77 million. That's less than the $11 million dollar estimate.

Also on Thursday, the Itasca County Rail Authority approved an easement with BNSF, to attach the railroads together.
