MercuryFilter Patent for Mesabi Nugget
The Mesabi Nugget venture will benefit from a new mercury treatment system.
It's called the MercuryFilter, and will make sure that waste water from the plant will have ultra-low mercury concentration.
The filter was invented by Larry Lehtinen, CEO of Magnetation, and Jeff Hansen, plant manager at Mesabi Nugget.
The patent was received last week.
Without the innovation, Nugget would not have been able to get its permits.
