September Ore Totals

The Lake Carrier's Association said only about three million tons of pellets moved on the lakes in September.

That's down about 50% from last year.

However, towards the end of September, more companies were putting vessels into service to meet an uptick in demand.

High water levels are helping lakers take on more tonnage, but the industry is still concerned that more dredging needs to be done.
