Thanks to federal stimulus dollars and work from the Builders Association in Minnesota, homeowners can get up to $4000 back for doing energy upgrades.
Licensed contractors have been training to understand what qualifies for a rebate.
Insulation in attics and walls and new windows will be up for rebates.
"Within ten days of the work being done, you'll get a check back," said Paul Manning, of the Arrowhead Builders Association.
"I'm excited. It's good to help people in the community. To get them to upgrade and insulate their homes, and save a lot of money," said David Joice, a licensed contractor who owns The Carpentry Works.
We met up with Joice at the home of one of his customers, Denise Miller.
"I'm really excited to be getting rid of some old windows. I wouldn't have been able to do it without this program, so I am grateful," she said.
Project ReEnergize is first come, first serve. Three million dollars is up for grabs for people in Minnesota.
To qualify, your home must have been built before 2000, and be less than 3000 square feet. There are no income limits or requirements.
On Thursday, October 1st, the program begins. A list of contractors who are licensed and trained to do the work will be on the website below starting Thursday. More details are also included on the site.
