Superintendant Aaron Fischer says that despite Tuesday's rejected referendum, they are going to try and come up with an affordable proposal in the future. More than 1,300 people voted against the $6.7 million dollar initiative. The money would have been spent to improve the Esko Athletic Complex, off Canosia Road. Fischer says he and the school board felt it was a good project with the students' best interest in mind. but community feedback shows many folks had serious concerns about spend the money. "First of all the economy. That was a big factor for a lot of people and the second was the overall cost. When you look at the cost of the project in this recession...it's difficult for a lot of families to do." Fischer says. Superintendant Fischer says the board will consider doing a community survey to figure out how to make the project more feasible for taxpayers. |
