It's the areas last triathlon of the year. A 1/3 mile swim, 14 mile bike and a little over 3 mile run. "Most of the distances are real do able for folks that are generally fit. What makes it more unique is that you keep repeating it over and over and over again," said race organizer Rod Raymond.

According to race organizer Rod Raymond the Burrito Union 5 and 10 hour triathlon held at Wisconsin's Pattison State Park is the only one of it's kind in the world. "I'd say we are all definitely the adrenaline and endorphine junkies you get going and you hear the music before you start the day and you get out there and feel the competition," said Rich Kurhajetz, a native of Willow River.

For many it was their very first taste of an endurance event. "I was with some friends and had a little too much wine and we all agreed to do it," said Jule Flotten of Duluth. "The organizers have done a great job of just making it feel really relaxed for people who want it to be relaxed but competition for those who are able to push themselves a little bit more. Or want to be more competitive."

Triathlons were nothing new for Doug Dunham, a professor at UMD. The super motivated 71 year old completed the 5 hour tri by himself. And on the women's side, at 64 Alexis Pogorelskin competed in the three person relay. She's not only an endurancealist, but for her age, she is the strongest woman in the country at the bench press. "I bench press 155," said Pogorelskin. For Alexis, triathlons give her overall conditioning and focus. She encourages everyone, no matter what age to train with her on the UMD triathlon team. "We're not about elite athleticism. We're about enjoying each other having fun, feeling good and feeling good about ourselves."
