Updated at: 09/15/2009 11:00 PM Duluth Dentist Accused of Drunk Driving ChargedAccording to the Carlton County Attorney, Timothy Robert Langguth, 61, was more than 3.5 times the legal limit at the time of the crash, and was charged Tuesday with two felony counts of criminal vehicular operation resulting in substantial bodily harm and driving under the influence. Langguth is from Moose Lake, but practices dentistry in Duluth. The crash happened on August 22nd on 1-35 just south of Cloquet. Trooper Erick Sjodin told Eyewitness News he was on the lookout for a suspected drunk driver at the time, when his patrol car was smashed against a guardrail. Trooper sjodin came away from the accident with some internal bleeding and damage to a lung. Langguth was hospitalized after the crash in critical condition, but he has since been released. Eyewitness News discovered that this isn't his first offence-- back in 1998, Langguth was charged with driving under the influence. The county attorney said, based on his record and the state's sentencing guidelines-- if Langguth is found guilty, he could face a maximum of 13 months in prison. The county attorney expects Langguth to make an initial appearance in court, sometime next week. |
