IRR Audit Released

A state audit of Iron Range Resources shows some room for improvement.

The legislative auditor said the agency followed most legal requirements involving finances. But there are weak areas involving receipts, system security, payroll, and employee expenses.

The auditor also said the agency did not fix two prior audit findings.

IRR Commissioner Sandy Layman said: "I am confident Iron Range Resources has good controls in its administration of grants and loans and in its operations. As a result of the most recent audit, the agency will do even more to enhance and document those controls."
