Inline Skating

The Northshore Inline Marathon is just over a month and a half away. Ski Hut hosts a Tuesday night skate, the location changes every week. "Basically we've been kind of scouring the area a little bit to try and find different and good places to go skate," said Lucky Lennon, the coordinator of the skate. One of the best skates in the area is right here on County Road L and Lymann Lake in Wisconsin; beautiful views, rolling hills, and over 10 miles of immaculate pavement.

These dedicated athletes are out here for more than just a good time. "We're out here for a recreational skate, maybe doing a little bit of distance training, hill climbing, trying to build a little endurance," said Bob Cragin. Many are training for the Northshore Inline Marathon. On September 19th nearly 4,000 skaters will roll along the same course used for Grandma's Marathon. "It's always fun to see you know a whole bunch of people going out and skating an event like that, I think it's great for the area," said Lennon.

Bob Cragin skated his first marathon 14 years ago and has since crossed every Northshore Marathon finish line. "I figured just as a lark i'll do it and I never thought I could even go the distance of a marathon," said Cragin. Nineteen year old Anika Rannikko appreciates the team aspect of the sport, skating in a pack. "The person in front cuts the wind for the people behind, and the people behind push the person in front, so it kind of makes you go faster and it's a little bit easier," said Rannikko.
