According to a report in Friday's Star Tribune, plans for the Magnetation site in Grand Rapids are on hold.

The report says owners are dealing with unexpected high costs and bigger upgrades than expected.

The delay has to do with setbacks in an Indiana plant's air pollution controls and permitting.

"We didn't know there was a nonfunctioning air pollution system there," ERP Iron Ore Managing Director Rob Bigelow said.

Bigelow told the Star Tribune that it probably pushes Magnetation's restart out a year.

Magnetation filed for bankruptcy in 2015.
