One-day entrance fees will rose from $5 to $7 effective July 1, and the cost of an annual sticker will rise from $25 to $35. The fee increases were approved by the Minnesota Legislature this spring at the request of the state Department of Natural Resources.

The DNR says the fees had not changed in more than a decade, and the increases are necessary to continue offering quality facilities and services.

Fee increases for ATV riders and snowmobilers also take effect July 1 (details: http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/parks_trails/feedetails.html). Fees for fishing and hunting licenses will increase next year (details: http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/LicenseDollarsAtWork/index.html).
