Madeline Island Folks Play Croquet on Ice Road

It was a great day to play croquet! That's what Sunday was for folks who live on Madeline Island. Thanks to the ice road being in place, they can take advantage of the smooth, hard surface for their game.

There is a group of locals who play croquet in the summer on the grass on Bell Street. But when the ice road is formed, they take advantage of that playing on that surface.

The ice road doesn't open every year, and with the warmer weather, it could be closed soon. When it forms, it provides a free and 24/7 link of travel for people who live on the island. Otherwise, they use the ferry service.

Thanks to Bob Hansen, who provided video for the story.
