Tech Bytes: Nationalized 5G Network, "Boring Company" Flamethrowers

In Today's Tech Bytes, a nationalized 5G mobile network may be in the works. Axios reports the Trump administration is considering creating that network to provide faster service. It would also be a way of guarding against China, and other malicious internet actors. A final decision on it is still months away.

Carmakers are hitting a major speed bump in their race to develop self-driving cars: drivers themselves! A new poll finds a full two-thirds of Americans are uncomfortable with the idea of leaving the driving to a robot. The polls says women are less inclined to let go of that steering wheel.

Elon Musk is selling more than electric cars. You can now buy a flamethrower from his "Boring Company." They go for $500 apiece. Only 20,000 will be sold. The company is also selling $30 fire extinguishers to go with the flamethrowers.
