"The Nice Girls of the North Second Saturday Marketplace" is held at the Lakeside Lester Park Community Center  in Duluth (106 N. 54th Avenue East.)

It began six years ago. Local Artists Anita Stech and Judy Gordon were looking for an outlet for women artists. They started out at various local fairs and have built their way up to having a monthly market that involves an array of different artists.

Artist Theresa Hornstein explains the group has a dollmaker, candlemaker, and jewelry maker. She considers herself a "crafting junkie." She loves playing with dyed yarns and eco printing on various fibers.

"We're big into functional," she says.

The market is open every second Saturday of the month from 10 a.m to 3 p.m.

Saturday, October 14 will mark their six year anniversary. Hornstein says the market will have cupcakes, balloons and door-prize drawings every hour to celebrate.
