In a similar fashion to the well-known story, a duck named Ugly looks different from his brothers and sisters. The other animals on the farm are quick to notice and make fun of Ugly. The fowl ends up going on a journey of self-discovery, meeting many unique characters along the way. The duck finds out that being different is not a bad thing!

Two different casts are putting on 'Honk! JR.' Labeled as Cast A and Cast B, the two rehearse in different rooms, but learn the same of choreography.

Cate Peterson, who plays 'Ugly Duckling' in Cast B's production, says she loves being part of the Duluth Playhouse family.

"Everyone's really accepting and it's just so much fun to be around everyone and to be with everyone everyday," Peterson said.

Lussi Salmela, who plays 'Ugly Duckling' in Cast A's production, believes this play is one that everyone can see.

"Honk! is really a production for all ages to enjoy," Salmela said.

Cast A is performing at 7 p.m. this Friday and Saturday, while Cast B performs at 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Both groups are filled with talented, young actors ranging between 8-13 years old.
