Giants Ridge has a new chalet and along with it, a new restaurant. The Burnt Onion Kitchen & Brews is now open, and we got a taste Friday morning on GMN.
Executive Chef Dan Schimka made pan-seared pork with apple cider glaze. He used boneless center-cut pork chops marinated in dijon mustard, fresh rosemary, fresh thyme, chili flakes, apple cider and apple cider vinegar.
This was just a taste of what Chef Dan is cooking up at the Burnt Onion. The menu includes lobster fritters, pan-seared parmesan scallops, hand-cut steaks, pastas, and fresh sustainable seafood.
Food and Beverage Director Greg Smith says they feature Minnesota brews from Castle Danger, Surly and others.
"We just like to feature quality beer and serve it the right way," He says. "And it's really good. We're getting a lot of good response on our tap."
Chef Dan is hosting a cooking demonstration and dinner on Thursday, November 17 at 6 p.m, and the Burnt Onion will host a Thanksgiving buffet on the holiday.
